Brush Ya Teeth

Over the last couple of weeks, Tali and I have been working together on an experiment. For our experiment we were testing what toothpaste (out of the three we tried) was the most protecting.

We cracked eggs in half and kept the egg shells. We then filled up 3 cups with black coffee. Then we took the 3 shells and coated them each in a toothpaste. We only coated the outside of the egg shell. We tried Colgate, Macleans, and a Peppa pig toothpaste. We then placed the egg shell in a cup of coffee and waited 48 hours.

After 48 hours we took the shells out of the cups. The egg shell that had the Peppa Pig toothpaste, it had gone a litle bit darker than a normal egg shell colour. The inside however was a different story. It was also really dark brown almost black on the inside. The Colgate had the least discolouration. This meant that so far in the experament, the Colagte had proven to be the most protecting. The Macleans was a lighter mucky brown. It was not as bad as the Peppa Pig but not as good as the Colgate.

On the last day of the experament, we observed something. The eggs had not changed much colour wise. Of course the toothpaste had disolved off the egg shell. But the colour really hadn't changed much. The only colour change was on the inside of the egg. It was definatly black now.

Yesterday we had a Science fair. We made a Science board and put all our information on the board. Students from other classes and parents came to view our work. This is what our work turned out like.
